BINGHAMTON, NY – The Confucius Institute of Chinese Opera at Binghamton University will celebrate the 2nd Annual Global Confucius Institute Day with the grand opening of its new Chinese Cultural Experience Center on Saturday, Sept. 26, on campus.
The Chinese Cultural Experience Center Grand Opening celebration will be held at 2 p.m. in the Glenn G. Bartle Library Lobby, where there will be a giant interactive touchscreen TV and opportunities to take pictures in Beijing opera costumes. There will also be a museum-quality display of Confucius Institute activity photos and a Beijing Opera book exhibit. This event will be accompanied by live Chinese instrumental music, and refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
Later that evening, the Confucius Institute will hold its "Amazing China!" show at 7:30 p.m. in the Anderson Center Chamber Hall. Performances will include Beijing Opera, Chinese vocal and instrumental music, and a Chinese magician. Binghamton University faculty and students, the National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts faculty, and guest artists from the New York Chinese Traditional Art Center will perform at this event.
Ticket prices are $3 for students, $8 for seniors and Binghamton University faculty/staff/alumni, and $10 for the public.
