Broadening participation in computing
The School of Computing is fully committed to diversity in computing, starting with our own department, including and especially our students.
We are committed to including and supporting students from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in computing, and to helping them thrive within our academic and research programs.
We have developed a Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) Plan. We hope this plan will serve as a framework to spark and support efforts spearheaded by faculty working individually, in small groups and collectively.
We developed our plan in concert with the BPCNet.org community, and we were the fourth department with an approved and verified departmental BPC Plan, first posted on BPCNet.org in September 2020. BPCNet is an initiative of the CRA and NSF's CISE directorate.
