Heritage speakers and those with prior knowledge of Russian who wish to
claim foreign language proficiency may take a proficiency exam that tests oral and
written (i.e. grammatical spelling) knowledge of Russian. Successful
completion of this exam will allow you to claim FL2 credit. Students who
fail the exam are advised to take RUSS 111–212, Russian for Russian
Speakers I and II, a 2-semester sequence whose successful completion
will grant FL2 credit. Since RUSS 111–212 is given every other year,
students are urged to take the proficiency exam no later than sophomore
year, to ensure the course is available if needed. Contact the
Undergraduate Director to schedule your exam. Plan your Russian language
path early in your BU career!
