Sample itinerary for your day in Binghamton

The Graduate School's graduate assistants and staff offer their recommendations for a day in Binghamton.

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and the Binghamton area provides some tasty options. You can go to Nezuntoz for fresh bagels, a breakfast sandwich or coffee. Or try Laveggio for artisan-roasted coffee and breakfast pastries. Crepe Heaven's name says it all. With a little bit of a drive, you can get fresh donuts and apple cider (seasonal) at the Cider Mill. Panera and Starbucks are two other close-to-campus options.

Visit and Tour

Take in the Binghamton University campus, and meet with faculty in your department of interest.

While you're on campus, you can grab lunch at one of many dining spots. You can also stop in and view the University Art Museum's collections.

Morning or afternoon, you can check out downtown Binghamton. You might stop by RiverRead books, browse the shops on Washington Street, check out the Binghamton Farmers' Market, or stroll down the RiverWalk to Confluence Park. Take a peek in the Binghamton University Downtown Center, home to the College of Community and Public Affairs.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you can hike along one of the trails in the Binghamton University Nature Preserve. You can also meet the new tigers at the Ross Park Zoo or drive out to Apple Hills to pick fresh apples, cherries, blueberries, and raspberries (depending on the season).

For dinner, you have a smorgasbord of possibilities. Locally-owned or national chain, salad or steak, fancy date or budget-friendly, let your palate pick. Here are just a few suggestions:

And here's an even more extensive restaurant list.

After dinner, check out your entertainment options. Binghamton's students are active in the performing arts, and the University also hosts professional productions. The Binghamton area also has movie theaters, an opera company, and a symphony orchestra. If you're a sports fan, you might attend a Binghamton Rumble Ponies (baseball) or Binghamton Devils (hockey) game.

When the day is over, check into one of the area's hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts.
