CCPA Higher Education and Student Affairs

Background

Prior to joining the Student Affairs Administration faculty at Binghamton University in fall 2020, Professor Whitehead’s postsecondary experience included teaching service-learning and civic engagement courses, advising student organizations, co-leading department and campus-wide assessment initiatives, and collaborating with student affairs colleagues in enhancing support for minoritized college students through programming and outreach.

Professor Whitehead’s current research places a square focus on whiteness and anti-blackness in U.S. higher education. Through his research, Professor Whitehead strives to inform efforts to address racism on college campuses. He has also published research focused on the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community college students and Muslim college students in the U.S. South.
