This Dual-Diploma Program is an undergraduate program in which students spend half of their education at Binghamton University and the other half at a Turkish university. The program received the 2007 Heiskell Award for International Exchange Partnerships by the Institute of International Education, one of the world’s leading international education organizations which administers such programs as Fulbright and the Humphrey Fellowships.
Program Features
Study in two countries
The dual-diploma program offers students a highly unique experience and prepares them for a globalized world. Our students will receive two diplomas--one from Binghamton University and the other from a distinguished Turkish university upon completion of all academic requirements.
English proficiency
Students develop excellent language skills as they live and study in the United States.
Multicultural experience
The program allows students to experience two distinctively different cultures. Upon completing the degree, students are well-prepared to work in a multi-cultural environment and to function effectively in an international arena.
High academic quality
The program is academically rigorous, as students must meet the academic requirements of both the Turkish university and the SUNY campus to complete the degree and to receive either diploma.
Pattern of Study
Dual-Diploma Programs with Turkey
Each program is designed to fit the needs of the specific academic field. Typically, students spend Year 1 and Year 3 at their home universities in Turkey and Year 2 and Year 4 at Binghamton University. Students requiring English preparation upon admission spend one year studying in the Intensive English Programs at a Turkish university before beginning the regular coursework.
Students who complete all course requirements AND complete one full academic year of study (two consecutive semesters) in the United States may be eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT). Eligible students can apply to receive up to 12 months of OPT employment authorization. Students in STEM fields may be eligible for a 24-month extension. For more information on OPT eligibility, please visit Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS).
