If you are a student in F-1 or J-1 status, your participation in Orientation is essential, even if you have attended another U.S. college or university.
The Spring 2025 International Student Orientation will include a combination of pre-arrival videos and programs that you can attend in-person on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
The Spring 2025 Orientation Schedule is available here
*Note: A "New Student Fee" will be included on your student bill. This fee supports services and events for new students, including Orientation. The fee is charged to all international students in their initial semester. Your student bill will be issued after you register for courses.
Part I: Pre-arrival Orientation
The pre-arrival orientation videos will introduce a variety of important topics for new international students, including immigration regulations, health insurance, and recognizing and avoiding scams. All new students are required to watch these videos as they cover important information you must know to maintain your immigration status and be successful at Binghamton University. Ideally, new students would complete these pre-arrival videos before they attend the in-person orientation.
In an effort to make the best use of your time, this self-paced series of short videos can be viewed in less than one hour.
You can watch the pre-arrival orientation videos on Brightspace. Make sure to scroll down the page to the “My Courses” section and click on the “Binghamton University International Student Orientation” link. These videos should be watched before the in-person programming on Thursday, January 16.
Part II: International Student Orientation
The interactive in-person components taking place on Thursday, January 16, 2025 will allow new international students to engage with one another, make connections, and get to know more about the Binghamton University community in an informal environment. All new international students are highly encouraged to participate in our in-person events.
