Joint JUST - MPA Degree Program of Study
Please see the Harpur College Bulletin for official information about the degree requirement.
The Master of Public Administration Program prepares students for leadership positions in public and nonprofit organizations through a program of study that emphasizes the development of strong analytical and communication skills and integrates the theory and practice of public administration. An MPA degree is ideal for students who are committed to public service, would like to be leaders in public and nonprofit organizations, and want to make a positive difference in the world.
The Judaic Studies & Public Administration Combined Program will restrict admissions to students with exceptional academic records. Students should apply for the combined program no later than beginning of junior year, and admission decisions for the combined program will be made no later than spring of junior year. Application and admissions processes are through the MPA program and the Graduate School. Admission decisions for the combined program will be based on course grades (normally, a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better and a GPA of 3.5 of better in their Judaic Studies courses are required), at least two letters of recommendation, a current resume, and a personal statement of approximately 500 words (2 typewritten pages, double-spaced) that addresses the student's:
- reasons for choosing public administration as a vocation
- the values and concerns he/she brings to the study of public administration
- present and future professional goals
- sense of what he/she will contribute to the field of public administration
Binghamton University's Master of Public Administration (MPA) program is pleased to announce that we have expanded our programming and are now offering a combined (fast-track) BA-MPA program in Judaic Studies. An MPA degree is a professional degree for those interested in public service careers in management. It is ideal for individuals who are committed to public service, would like to be a leader in a nonprofit or public organization, and want to make a positive difference in the world.
Binghamton University's MPA program:
- prepares students for management careers in public and nonprofit organizations
- has an energetic faculty committed to students, teaching, and community service
- works with the community to address administrative and policy challenges.
