Spring Admitted First-Years

Spring 2024 Orientation 

The following information is for first-year students who have been admitted for the Spring 2024 semester and will therefore be attending our Spring Admitted Orientation experience. The Orientation Experience includes several components including an Orientation session. We are offering two Orientation sessions for students to choose from - students only need to attend one of the two sessions.


Spring 2024 Orientation Experience

1. Orientation Checklist

The Orientation Checklist, which goes live on my.binghamton.edu in mid-September, outlines important steps to complete before the Spring semester.

2. Orientation Session (choose one of the two options)

Orientation A

Sunday, October 22nd from 10:00am-4:00pm

Orientation B

Saturday, January 13th from 10:00am-4:00pm 

During Orientation you will:

  • Hear from Harpur Academic Advising
  • Learn about Residential Life  
  • Make connections with other new Spring-Admitted students
  • Hear from current Binghamton University students about life on campus

3. Academic Advising and Registration Appointments

A virtual academic advising and course registration appointment. Information on scheduling your appointment will be discussed during your Orientation session.


Who should attend?

All new matriculated incoming first-year students for Spring 2024. 

How do you register?

Every newly admitted student who has paid their admissions’ deposit is encouraged to attend Orientation. Details regarding the registration process will be emailed to the student's Binghamton email in late September. If you are unable to register for an Orientation date, please contact our office so we may assist you either over the phone (607-777-6393) or through e-mail (orientation@binghamton.edu). 

Family members are welcome to attend our Family Orientation program. For more information, see below. Students can register family members when they register for Orientation.

What's next? 

After you complete your Orientation registration, you will receive a confirmation email that will direct you back to your Orientation Checklist on my.binghamton.edu. Make sure to complete all necessary items to be fully prepared for your Orientation experience. 

Students who attend Orientation on October 22nd will move in on January 13th for the Spring semester. Students who attend Orientation on January 13th will move in on January 12th for the Spring semester. Students will receive communications from Residential Life regarding exact move in times.

Family Orientation 

Family Orientation offers families of newly admitted students the opportunity to engage with Binghamton University’s campus and understand the many resources available for our students. Students can register their family members for Family Orientation when they register for their own session on the "Family Orientation" tab in VZOrientation.

Family Orientation Session:

Sunday, October 22nd from 10:00am-4:00pm. Details will be emailed to those registered.

This option is CONCURRENT to your student’s Orientation session. During this in-person session, families will meet with and hear from Parent and Family Programs, current Binghamton University students, Residential Life and Housing, Financial Services, and more. Attendees will be able to see campus and connect with staff and students. Please note that offices will not be open for walk-ins as this session takes place during a weekend day.

Please note: There is no family program associated with the January Orientation session.
