Family Events

Orientation is not just for new students, but for parents and families too! Our family orientation program is specifically designed for parents, providing them with information they want to know about health and safety, books, food, transportation and more. Our student orientation advisors help answer questions from the student perspective, and parents leave the program feeling relieved and excited about their students' choice in coming to Binghamton.

Summer Send-offs

Available in late July and early August, our virtual Summer Send-offs create a wonderful opportunity for Binghamton University's newest students and families to come together and meet other Bearcats from their hometown! Registration for these virtual events will open later in the summer. Make sure you are registered as part of our Bearcat Family to be sure to get notifications.

Virtual Family Weekend (Oct. 23–25, 2020)

In an effort to protect the health and safety of our entire University community — including students and their families — and mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we will not host an in-person Family Weekend this year. Family Weekend — the largest event of the year for the parents and families of our undergraduate students — annually brings more 4,500 participants to campus. We always look forward to the opportunity for families to visit campus and their student during this fun weekend, and it saddens us that we are unable to be together this fall.

But, instead of cancelling, we are going virtual the weekend of October 23–25. Programs offered will include a welcome video from President Harvey Stenger, dance, music and theater performances by our talented students, contests, games and giveaways from various offices, informational programs about University departments such as Education Abroad, Undergraduate Research, Graduate School and Fraternity/Sorority Affairs, an "out-of-state family" chat on Zoom, Q&A with Binghamton University students, coffee and conversation with Vice President of Student Affairs Brian Rose and much more!

New York City CONNECT

May be postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Students, alumni and parents join together each January (during winter break) in New York City for New York City CONNECT, a series of career discovery and networking events aimed at strengthening University connections with its most loyal of supporters. Parent and Family Programs hosts a Career Resources Panel for parents, which is designed to provide information on how parents can assist their students in taking advantage of the high-impact learning experiences Binghamton offers to benefit their credentials and resume. Representatives from several University offices, including the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development, the Graduate School and Education Abroad will share their insights and expertise, as well as give parents an opportunity to ask questions.
