Background

Kenneth 'Mac' McCall, PharmD, BCGP, FAPhA, joined the Binghamton University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences as a clinical professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. He earned his BS in pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) and completed a primary care residency with the Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Army, and OUHSC. Prior to joining the faculty at Binghamton, he was a professor at the University of New England (UNE) School of Pharmacy and associate professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC).

His leadership experiences have included chair of the University Faculty Assembly at UNE, chair of the MaineCare Drug Utilization Review Committee, co-chair of the Maine Prescription Drug Affordability Board, president of the Maine Pharmacy Association, director of PGY1 community residency programs at UNE and TTUHSC, chair of the department of pharmacy practice at UNE, head of the community care division at TTUHSC and clinical pharmacy manager at Northwest Texas Healthcare System.

McCall’s passions are teaching, clinical and population health research, community service and advocacy for the profession of pharmacy. Throughout his academic career, he has strived to improve his teaching as evidenced by his scholarship of teaching and learning. His greatest professional joy is contributing to the education of future pharmacists. He also strives to include students in local and national advocacy efforts so they can expand their personal viewpoints through interactions with legislators and better articulate the value that a pharmacist provides to community health.

McCall has over 20 years of academic pharmacy experience including over 50 publications that have involved mentoring research projects with pharmacy students and residents. His community and professional service have been recognized with the national Immunization Champion Award from the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the Bowl of Hygeia Award from APhA, appointment by Maine Gov. Janet Mills to co-chair the Maine Board of Prescription Drug Affordability, and induction as a Fellow of APhA. He is passionate about the advancement of pharmacy education and the contributions of pharmacy practice to patient care and public health.
