Students - Frequently Asked Questions

Alumni from a variety of professional backgrounds are on the platform, including:

• Engineering and IT
• Arts and communication
• Government, policy and law
• Human services and education
• Business and entrepreneurship
• Science and healthcare

You can contact multiple mentors on the platform. We would suggest only connecting with one or two at a time to ensure you have the time to get the most out of each relationship.

This is designed to be a distance mentoring program so students can connect with alumni from anywhere in the world. Most meetings will occur via phone, Skype, Facetime or other conference tools you may have available. However, if you do happen to be in the same location as the mentor, you are welcome to meet with them in person depending on their availability. If you do, they should meet at the mentor’s place of work or other public space (e.g., coffee shop, park, restaurant). You will decide with your mentor what the best meeting platform will be.

Meetings will typically last for one hour, but that will depend on your mentor’s availability.

This is up to the mentor. You should ask for their personal contact information to send them a thank-you note.

Absolutely! Make sure to read the step-by-step directions and watch the video on this website. You can also go to walk-ins at the Fleishman Center or other campus career offices for support.
