Important Changes to Research.gov:

On October 27, 2024, the National Science Foundation will implement multifactor authentication (MFA) for Research.gov. With the ever-growing number of cyber security concerns and threats, MFA gives an added layer of security to ensure that only authorized users can access Federal resources online.

What this means for you: On October 27, all users will be required to complete a one-time MFA enrollment process and use the selected method to sign into Research.gov. Users must set up a primary MFA sign-in method.  NSF urges users to also set up a secondary method in case the primary method is unavailable. Every time a user signs into Research.gov, they will be required to use MFA. OR Users can continue using Login.gov to sign into Research.gov if a phishing-resistant MFA is used.

Further information regarding MFA can be found here and training opportunities can be found here.
