Background
Azucena Trincado Murugarren (she/they) holds a PhD in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is a lecturer in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the State University of New York at Binghamton.
She has a B.A. in Hispanic Philology and Basque Studies from the University of the Basque Country. Before beginning her PhD, she completed a master’s in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Currently, her interdisciplinary research interests revolve around contemporary peninsular and cultural studies, queer theory, gender and trans studies. Murugarren has presented her work at national and international conferences, such as the MLA. Among her publications, it is worth highlighting the chapter “On Sexual Difference and Lesbianism in Eva Baltasar’s Novels Permagel (2019) and Boulder (2020)” in the edited volume Character and Gender in Contemporary Catalan Literature (2022).
