Manhattan Graduate Scholars Program for Partners in Healthcare
Did you know that the health systems master’s degree program based in Manhattan (and also available online) is offering academic scholarships for students starting in Fall 2025?
Similar to our alumni scholarship, healthcare professionals within partner networks are able to participate in the Manhattan Graduate Scholars Program and receive a significant discount on their degree program.
These programs remain open to all major and invested in supporting students to attain and enhance skills in problem-solving, systems thinking, data analysis, and overall operations management in healthcare. This twelve month program is designed to provide individuals with a bachelor’s degree the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills for modeling, analyzing and/or designing healthcare delivery systems and processes.
About the Executive Health Systems - Manhattan Program:
The one-year, Saturdays-only program based in Manhattan confers a Master of Science in Systems Science with Executive Health Systems Concentration. This program is open to all majors. (An Industrial and Systems Engineering track is also available, but requires a background in engineering or additional prerequisite coursework.) Although highly focused in healthcare, the engineering tools and principles learned within this degree program are transferable to any industry.
The School of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering is proud to offer the highest ranked graduate program at Binghamton University (per U.S. News & World Report), with Industrial and Systems Engineering also ranking in the top 10 nationwide for “programs that create futures” (per The Princeton Review) due to its career-oriented focus.
Recent international developments with COVID-19 and other concerns have only underscored the immense need for increased utilization of industrial and systems engineering in healthcare, a need that has already been underscored in great detail in a 2014 President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) report about “Better Healthcare at Lower Costs” and subsequent reports, making health systems engineering a very stable job market with increasing demand. As you may have already read, medical and health services manager and industrial engineer roles constitute two of the eight positions that U.S. News & World Report recently noted may be "recession-proof," which is great news for our graduates. On Sept. 18, 2020, the American Medical Association (AMA) also released an article stating that “COVID-19 shows why health systems science matters so much.” Our graduates address the regional, national and global need for healthcare systems to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, safety, timeliness, patient-centeredness, and equity of healthcare services.
To participate in the Manhattan Graduate Scholars Program, please read below:
If you are an approved healthcare professional within a partner network, you would receive $1,750 in scholarship discount each semester of your program while you are enrolled as a full-time student in Manhattan (~14% of the total cost). This is a significant discount, especially considering that the Manhattan program’s costs are all-inclusive, encompassing textbooks, technology, fees, and other needs of your program.
Students pursuing this option who meet the GPA requirement will also receive an automatic waiver of the GRE requirement.
This offer is specific to cohort 11 of the Executive Health Systems – Manhattan program, which will begin its Orientation in August. - Email Dr. Mohammad Khasawneh (and CC Erin Hornbeck) with subject line Manhattan Graduate Scholars Program Application;
- Attach your resume and transcript;
- Include your name and healthcare network in the body of your email.
Students accepted into the Manhattan Graduate Scholars Program receive a formal notification of their award ($1,750 reduction per semester) and will be required to pay their admissions deposit/orientation fee ($500) to confirm acceptance of this award within 30 days of admission.
Students who do not satisfy the Manhattan Graduate Scholars Program requirements are still welcome to apply but cannot be considered for this award.
