DiRT

What is DiRT?

The Dickinson Research Team (DiRT) is a residential community-based research program that is the first of its kind in the United States. DiRT was originally founded by Kimberly Jaussi and was taken over by Robert Holahan, a professor in the Political Science department, in 2022. Since then, DiRT has grown to include researchers from outside of the Dickinson residential community. DiRT welcomes undergraduate students living anywhere on or off campus, in any class year or major, and regardless of prior research experience. In DiRT, students are able to immerse themselves in hands-on research from start to finish.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower undergraduate students to engage in impactful societal research that advances knowledge and promotes equity for residents of New York. We develop original interdisciplinary research that examines issues within the community and across New York State, fueled by an inclusive and collaborative environment to deliver genuine results for informing residents and engaging scholars in further research.
