Vision

The Health Sciences Initiative at Binghamton University will improve health through cutting-edge basic, applied, and translational research in health science fields and healthcare systems.

Mission

The mission of the Health Sciences Initiative at Binghamton University is to generate basic and applied research, garner external funding, and create national centers for excellence to enhance the health and well-being of humans and animals. Our mission will be accomplished through transdisciplinary efforts involving multiple individuals and units within Binghamton University and through collaborative partnerships with other universities, research centers, industrial partners, and professional, healthcare and practice communities. We will augment current research strengths by building and enhancing transdisciplinary research in health-related areas. By focusing on collaborative scholarly research, we will integrate basic and applied research with best practices in healthcare delivery to achieve the common goal of improving national and global health.

Goals

  • Create, translate, and disseminate advances in the biomedical, health and life sciences for improvement of health and health literacy.
  • Educate, empower and inspire undergraduate and graduate students to conduct state-of-the-art research directed toward advancing all phases of health sciences.
  • Establish Binghamton University as an internationally recognized center for research excellence in health sciences and healthcare delivery innovations.
