BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton University will host the 10th annual Health Fair from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, in the Recreation Center, East Gym, on campus. This event is free and open to the public.

The event, hosted by Dining Services by Sodexo, in partnership with the Department of Campus Recreational Services, will showcase various food vendors, community businesses and organizations and other groups and individuals in recognition of National Nutrition Month.

"This year we’re encouraging attendees to take the Plus1 B-Healthy Challenge and identify one healthy habit to incorporate into everyday life," said Alexa Schmidt, Sodexo dietitian. "We hope you’ll leave the fair with a wellness toolbox of ideas and resources that can be used throughout the year. One healthy habit each day adds up to a healthier you!"

More than 70 vendors will be on hand to showcase products, offer helpful information, and provide food, beverage samples and fun giveaways. Attendees will be able to participate in free health screenings, exercise demos and sessions, cooking demos, facility tours and drawings as they learn how to incorporate health and wellness into their daily lives.

This year’s special guest, Global Sound Bath, will bring its group rejuvenating experience, which incorporates zero gravity chairs. The experience is said to stimulate the circulatory system, strengthen the immune system, and help rebalance physical, emotional and spiritual self.

"As a University, we recognize the significant role that health and wellness play in our students’ academic success and our staff and faculties’ wellbeing, and have made it an institutional priority to encourage and support their healthy living," said Cindy Cowden, senior associate director for campus recreation and chair of B-Healthy: the Healthy Campus Initiative. "It is amazing that we have been able to host the Health Fair on campus with great reception for 10 years. We look forward to the continued partnership with both Sodexo and our community partners."
