Background

Amy Lorino joined Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences in September 2022 as a clinical associate professor for the Division of Occupational Therapy. She teaches in both the entry-level and post-professional doctor of occupational therapy programs. 

Lorino specializes in community and home health practice for adults with physical and psychosocial challenges. She is a certified Skills2Care™ practitioner and delivers consultation services to caregivers of persons with dementia, using an evidence-based, collaborative, problem-solving approach to empower caregivers to optimally engage in caregiving occupations.  

She has worked in various clinical practice areas across the healthcare continuum, including early intervention and preschool; pediatric and adolescent residential care; inpatient and outpatient adult and adolescent psychiatry; and acute, skilled nursing, and outpatient rehabilitation contexts. She also served as a director of rehabilitation in a rural hospital system and developed multiple programs to serve the community's needs, including a dedicated outpatient occupational therapy clinic.
