Disability Rights

In partnership with The Graphix Project and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, this research group, including the students in the spring 2023 capstone for human rights minor, analyzed normative structures of ihuman rights for disabled persons, barriers to the rights guaranteed by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the world' least developed countries (LDCs, as identified by the UN), civil society disability rights and services organizations in the LDCs, and the services and barriers to services on our campus for students with disabilities. The group releaseed two reports in spring 2023 (available under PUBLICATIONS and REPORTS).
GTMO Accountability Project (GAP)

In this project, we examined allegations of abuse and illegal activitity at Guantanamo and in the CIA's Rendition, Detention, and Interrogation program in the War on Terror. Activities include producing a public service announcement in partnership with North Carolina Stop Torture Now to call on the Governor and Attorney General of North Carolina to investigate the state's engagement in the RDI program.
