The Latin American and Caribbean Area Studies Program (LACAS) offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of Latin America, the Caribbean and people of Latin American and Caribbean descent in the United States. LACAS majors examine culture and economic and social problems throughout the Americas. Students not only learn more about a range of cultures and societies, but also about global interconnectedness.

Supporting our program advances Binghamton University’s mission by providing our students:

  1. Opportunities to conduct collaborative transdisciplinary research with international perspectives
  2. Access to high-impact educational experiences in an environment that advances diversity, equity and inclusion
  3. Participation in community engagement projects

Giving to Latin America and Caribbean Area Studies:

Your gift will support travel grants for affiliated graduate student instructors to present their research at national and international conferences, programming that brings renowned speakers to Binghamton University and engages the larger tricity community, and the biennial LACAS undergraduate research conference that draws students from all over the Northeast.
