Yellow Ribbon Program

Understanding The Yellow Ribbon Program

This program helps pay for tuition and fees only at these types of schools:

  • A private school that may have higher tuition and fees ($28,937.09 for 2024-2025), or
  • A foreign school, or
  • A public school if you attend as a nonresident student (charged nonresident student tuition and fees).

Binghamton University's nonresident tuition and fee charges are consistent with SUNY’s Military In-State Tuition policy.  As a consequence, the Yellow Ribbon program is not applicable.

This is a good thing since it means lower tuition and fee charges.  Additionally, Binghamton University students are not “missing out” on what can be perceived as an additional GI Bill education benefit.

More information about the Yellow Ribbon Program is available from the VA education benefit site.
