Binghamton University Safety Advisory

On October 23, 2024, the University Police received two reports of stolen vehicles from the Binghamton University campus. The first vehicle, a van, was stolen by an unknown individual and later abandoned in the M Lots. The second vehicle, a box truck, was taken from Parking Lot M1 and later recovered in the City of Binghamton.
The suspect involved in the theft of the second vehicle has been taken into custody, and formal charges are pending. However, the suspect is not expected to be held after being charged. It remains unclear whether the same suspect was responsible for the theft of the first vehicle.

- In light of this incident, the University Police would like to provide the following
tips to help keep you and your property safe:
Always secure your vehicle and remove any valuable items when it is unattended. - Never leave your vehicle running while unattended.
- Never leave your keys inside the vehicle.
- Always keep your windows closed when your vehicle is unattended.
