Binghamton University Campus Community,

On the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, the University Police received a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was taken from the Delaware Hall service drive and was later found abandoned a short distance away on campus. University Police have identified a person of interest in connection with this case; however, no suspect has been apprehended at this time. The suspect is believed to be responsible for several larcenies the same night of this incident as well as a prior incident of grand larceny on campus a few days ago.

The University Police are actively investigating this incident and encourage anyone with information to contact them at (607) 777-2393. Information can also be reported anonymously through the University Police website at: https://www.binghamton.edu/police/anonymous-tips.html

In light of this incident, the University Police would like to provide the following tips to help keep you and your property safe:

  1. Never leave your keys inside the vehicle.
  2. Always secure your vehicle and remove any valuable items when it is unattended.
  3. Never leave your vehicle running while unattended.
  4. Safeguard vehicle keys and do not leave them unattended in public spaces.
  5. Do not leave your valuables unattended.
  6. Immediately report crimes or suspicious activity to University Police.
