Top 5 tips for a successful mentoring experience
- Be available. Respond to emails promptly. If you are working on an ongoing relationship, keep in frequent contact with your mentee.
- Hold your mentee accountable for commitments and goals.
- Focus on strengths and potential rather than limitations.
- Have open communication. Provide constructive feedback to your mentee.
- Be honest. If something is not working within the mentoring relationship, let the mentee or administrator know.
