Reasonable Accommodation Process

Reasonable Accommodation Process

At the Research Foundation, we believe in fostering an inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive. Our Reasonable Accommodation Process is designed to assist the Research Foundation in determining whether, or to what extent, a reasonable accommodation is required for an employee with a disability to perform one or more essential functions of their job safely and effectively.

What is a Reasonable Accommodation?

A reasonable accommodation is any modification or adjustment to a job or work environment that enables a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential job functions. This can include changes to the work environment, job responsibilities, or the use of assistive technology.

Our Commitment

We are committed to providing timely and effective accommodations that respect privacy and maintain confidentiality. Our process is designed to be straightforward and supportive.

How to Request an Accommodation

1.) Identify Your Needs: Reflect on the specific limitations you face in your role and the accommodations you believe would help.

2.) Contact RFHR: Submit an email to rfhr@binghamton.edu indicating your need for a reasonable accommodation. At this time, RFHR will email you an Accommodation
Request Form and other associated documents (if needed) to be completed and
returned.

3.) Engage in Dialogue: Our HR team will reach out to discuss your request and explore potential solutions. We value open communication to ensure we meet your needs effectively.

4.) Final Determinations: Once a decision is made, you will be informed of either the
agreed-upon accommodation or alternative accommodation.
