Graduate assistants

Become a graduate assistant for Campus Recreation. We have positions for students interested in marketing, Intramural Sports, Fitness and Wellness, Club Sports or operations. Campus Recreation employs four GA positions during the academic year.

Internships

Group fitness

The group fitness internship is a 90-hour, two-credit* internship offered to undergraduate and graduate students (non-required OUT credits) who are available for employment with Campus Recreational Services the following semester. The purpose of this internship is to prepare students to pass the ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification Exam (a requirement to be a group fitness instructor) as well as learn the practical skills needed to instruct a variety of group fitness classes. 

*To successfully complete this course and achieve a passing grade, all students must participate fully and complete the requirements of their Learning Agreement. This learning experience is identical for all students, however due to differences among the colleges and schools at Binghamton University and how they award credit towards degree completion, the number of credits that may count towards your degree vary. Please check with your college advising office for a detailed explanation on how credits earned in this OUT course may apply towards your degree requirements.

Personal training

The personal training internship is a 90-hour, two-credit* internship offered to undergraduate and graduate students (non-required OUT credits) who are available for employment with Campus Recreational Services the following semester. The purpose of this internship is to prepare students to pass the ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam (a requirement to be a personal trainer) as well as learn the practical skills needed to effectively work with a variety of individuals one-on-one and in a small group setting.

Preference will be given to current Campus Rec employees with at least two semesters of service. Must be currently CPR/AED and First Aid certified or willing to certify.
