Upcoming adventures

Spring Twilight Hike

  • 5–7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20
  • Local, $5

The chorus of the Spring Peepers and the crisp evening air will accompany our small
group. Outdoor Pursuits staff will identify some of the sights and sounds of the night
time forest on this easy paced hike. Bring a flashlight. Dress for the weather, bring a
water bottle and have a small backpack. Wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots. Trails will
be wet.

Overlook Fire Tower Hike

  • 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday, March 23
  • Woodstock, $25

The open ledges of Overlook’s peak offer spectacular vistas of the Hudson River valley,
Devils Path and the Ashokan Reservoir. This is a challenging hike up an old gravel
caretaker’s road, but very doable. Waiting at the top is a fire tower with an additional
60 feet in height! Bring along a small pack with lunch, snacks, and plenty of water.
Essential clothing for the weather is a must (non-cotton socks, hat, mittens and
synthetic jacket). It will be windy at the top.

Pharsalia Woods Lean-To Hike

  • 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 30
  • Norwich, $20

We will hike to one of the best maintained lean-to shelters along the Finger Lakes trail.
The warmth and crackle of a small fire allows us to toasted marshmallows and make
s’mores during our lunch break. Pack a lunch and a water bottle. Dress in non-cotton
base layers. Wear synthetic socks, jacket, hat, gloves and bring a day pack. Wear
sturdy winter boots. This will be a moderately paced 4.5 mile loop hike over rolling
terrain (no major mountains to climb!)
