Get Involved - Grads

The Q Center offers mixers and meetups for graduate students throughout the year. A favorite annual outing is a trip to downtown Binghamton for the LUMA Projection Arts Festival in early September.  Bowling, trivia nights and just hanging out are also popular. Graduate Internships

The Q Center hosts one professional graduate intern each year, generally in the area of programs and events. Graduate students from CCPA are strongly encouraged to apply, although we welcome applications from across the University.  This professional internship if for the full academic year with the applications accepted during the spring and early summer. The Q Center is also open to inquiries for unique project-based fall or spring internships. Past students have done research into LGBTQ related topics, created training programs and developed conferences. To inquire about using the Q Center as a home for your unique project idea, please contact us at lgbtq@binghamton.edu.

Volunteering

The Q-Center actively seeks individuals who are willing to spare some of their time to help us staff the Center and connect with the LGBTQ community. As a volunteer, you will be helping the Q-Center by keeping our doors open, marketing, tabling, hosting, and more! We ask for a 2-3 hour commitment per week. Apply to volunteer here.

Graduate Assistantships (GAs)

The Q Center employs one Center Operations Graduate Assistant to support the work of the Center.  The most competitive candidates are students enrolled in the Public Administration and Higher Education and Student Affairs, although we have also hired outside of these programs. The Q Center ideally looks for someone who is planning to follow a career path working with LGBTQ people. Hiring for this position takes place in the spring semester.
