First-Year Research Immersion (FRI)

Real research right from the start.

Who says undergraduate research has to wait?

Binghamton loves to be the very first to create real solutions to the world’s pressing problems, and from day one, you’ll be empowered to produce results that make a true impact around the country and around the world. The First-year Research Immersion (FRI) program provides first-year students with a three semester authentic research experience in sciences and engineering. Working alongside faculty and fellow students on cutting-edge research projects in their early college years, participants in the FRI program tackle weighty world issues, build powerful relationships, and set a course for college and career success.
