Psi Chi National Honor Society

Psi Chi - The International Honor Society in Psychology - was founded in 1929 to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship and advance the science of psychology. Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests and who meet the minimum qualifications.

How to Become a Member of Psi Chi

  • Membership Qualifications

    You must meet ALL of the following requirements:

    • Declared Major in Psychology, Psyc ASD, or Integrative Neuroscience
    • Junior or Senior credit standing (minimum of 57 credits completed)
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher
    • Major GPA of 3.5 or higher

    *The Degree Works report of your Major GPA may not be accurate. Use the GPA Calculators found on the Psychology Advising and Integrative Neuroscience Advising pages.

    • Completion or current enrollment in the following:
        • PSYC 111
        • PSYC 243
        • PSYC 344
    • One 300-level experimental psychology course (PSYC 350, 351, 356, 358, 360, 362, or 385)
    • A leadership position in psychology such as an Independent Study, completion of an Experimental Lab, Internship, or TA position. Alternative evidence of leadership positions will also be accepted. 
    • Note that faculty endorsement is not required.
