3+4 programs

3+4 programs shorten length of time to degree

Students can complete three years of their undergraduate study at one of the institutions listed below and then apply for admission to the Binghamton University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPPS) through PharmCAS. If admitted to Binghamton University’s SOPPS, students begin the PharmD program after their third year of undergraduate study and credits earned during their first year at SOPPS are transferred to their undergraduate institution and applied toward completion of their bachelor's degree from that institution. Students then have only three years left of their PharmD program at SOPPS, earning their bachelor’s and PharmD degrees in only seven years, rather than eight years.

Students choosing a 3 + 4 program are not given preferential treatment in the admissions process.

Current Binghamton University can follow different paths to the 3 + 4 program, through:

  • Biochemistry, BS
  • Biological Sciences, BA only
  • Chemistry, BA only

Non-Binghamton University students from the following schools can pursue a 3+4 program at Binghamton University if they meet eligibility requirements:

2+4 early assurance program for community college graduates

Students can complete their associate degree at one of the community colleges listed below and then apply for admission to the Binghamton University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPPS) through PharmCAS. If admitted to Binghamton University’s SOPPS, students follow the four-year program to the PharmD degree, earning their associate and PharmD degrees in only six years.

Students choosing a 2+4 program are not given preferential treatment in the admissions process.
