Outstanding features of Binghamton's School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Our PharmD program prepares students for success. Our PharmD curriculum includes robust rotations; an emphasis on interprofessional education and teamwork; and courses in pharmacy management, hospital practice and pharmacoeconomics. Through a formal research track and a capstone experience, students have the opportunity to work with leading scholars and researchers in pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical science.
- We offer a top-quality education at a modest price. Binghamton has established itself as one of the greatest values in the nation, boasting an internationally renowned graduate education that is economically possible and well worth the investment.
- Our students interact one-on-one with exceptional faculty. Our full-time faculty have PharmD and residency experience and hold either PhDs or MBA credentials (some have both). Faculty members are active in research and clinical practice.
- We have small classes. Our PharmD classes have 85–90 students, yielding a student-to-faculty ratio of 10:1.
This fosters strong mentoring relationships and fulfilling experiences for our students.
- We are a research-intensive school. The School of Pharmacy builds on Binghamton University’s strengths in the health sciences and engages world-class researchers in cutting-edge, transdisciplinary research.

Pharmacy Early Acceptance Program (PEAP)
The Pharmacy Early Acceptance Program (PEAP) provides academically exceptional students future admission into the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. These students will be able to apply to the PEAP during the second semester of their freshman year and enter the pre-pharmacy program. Binghamton University’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPPS) has built this program to allow students the flexibility to choose a path of entry that is best for them. Students are able to enter the SOPPS and earn a PharmD in four years once they have completed all the undergraduate prerequisite courses. Possible routes include (a) completion of prerequisite courses in two years (2+4), (b) completion of prerequisite courses in three years, with or without earning a bachelor’s degree (3+4), or (c) completion of prerequisite courses and a bachelor's degree in four years (4+4).

With a degree in pharmacy, you have endless possibilities!
Pharmacists are medication experts who use their detailed knowledge of medicine to help people get well. Today’s pharmacists work in community pharmacies, clinics, health systems, managed care, public health, the pharmaceutical industry (in areas such as research, regulatory affairs, medical writing, sales), academia, government (the armed forces, FDA, NIH) and in other industries including insurance.
Pharmacy practice is an indispensable part of modern healthcare, and the demand for well-trained pharmacists is projected to grow well into the 21st century.
