Introduction
Banner is an essential administrative software package developed by Ellucian and used
within the higher education sector. At Binghamton University, Banner plays a pivotal
role in maintaining integrated data for various critical systems, including finance,
human resources, student records, and financial aid.
Note: The data contained in this system is the property of Binghamton University.
Acceptable Use Policy- University Student Systems
One of the primary goals of the campus integrated student systems is to provide users with easily accessible information to assist them in the fulfillment of their responsibilities. All persons having access to the University Student Systems and information contained within should understand that they are bound by a number of ethical and legal considerations regarding access to and sharing of the information maintained in the database. This includes individuals with the right to view information within the database, as well as users who have job responsibilities for data entry and reports.
The data contained in the system is the property of Binghamton University. Access to and release of information is restricted except as needed to fulfill one's assigned duties and responsibilities. Therefore, no individual either internal or external to the University should access Student Systems information for any purpose other than for a business "need to know" reason.
In the event that there is a question regarding the appropriateness of a request for information from the database, the appropriate supervisor and/or Binghamton University office (Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, or Student Accounts) should be contacted to resolve the issue.
ABOUT BANNER
Banner serves as the primary student information system at Binghamton University, State University of New York. It offers information access to students, faculty, and staff in three distinct ways:

|
Each requires a different level of access for data and each serves a different role.
New University employees should speak with his/her supervisor or department chair to determine what level of access will be needed to perform job duties. Supervisors of new employees will initiate the access process.
Use of xTender may be needed to view documents (such as completed and scanned forms) associated with student records.
If you require access to SSB, you may request it online. If you have questions, please refer to the list of security approvers.
