Note: BingBox is a newer service offering that enables researchers to easily collaborate with non-Binghamton University persons. "BingBox" is a research specific web accessible storage option similar to Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. It is accessible from anywhere in the world (on or off campus) via a standard web browser, and supports collaboration with individuals outside of Binghamton University. In addition to the browser-based interface, it also supports various dedicated "sync-based" clients for MacOS, Windows, Linux, Android, and iOS. If external collaboration or off-campus access to files is required, BingBox is the recommended option. (Note that this offering is different from ITS "Research Storage Classic" which is a network file share not intended for external collaboration or web-based acccess"

- Automatically stores extra copies of data and maintains an off-site backup
- File Versioning to allow you to restore older version of files
Eligibility
To access ITS Encrypted Data Storage, individuals must meet specific criteria:
- Binghamton University Faculty or Staff OR Binghamton University Student with Faculty or Staff Sponsorship.
- Intended for Research Purposes only. There are alternative data storage options available for non-research purposes.
- This storage is intended for Data Classified as Levels 1 - 3. Find more information on Data Levels at Binghamton University Data Classification Levels
Cost
ITS "BingBox" is available for free up to 10GB, and is subject to a chargeback rate of $52/TB/year* thereafter.
*Chargeback rate if internal funds are used. For external funding, the approved chargeback rate is $60/TB/year.
Getting Started
To request access to BingBox, please email itsresearchsupport@binghamton.edu with the subject line "Requesting BingBox Access". Please also include the amount of storage requested in GB, a brief summary of your research, and payment account if applicable.
Policies
- Only the original requester of the storage, or a designated point of contact can make modification requests (Ex: Increase storage amount).
