On October 10, this was the chosen crossing point for Colonel Daniel Morgan and his company of riflemen due to the heavy fortifications at Fish Creek Ford. The Fish Creek Mills Crossing was further upstream of Fish Creek Ford and was at the western edge of the Continental line south of Fish Creek. General Learned also crossed at this point the next day and later took position just north of this crossing.
